Erinji Is in historic temple closely associated with one of the top samurai warlords in the 16th Century warring states Sengoku Period, Takeda Shingen. The temple houses many cultural treasures from that period, including Takeda Shingen’s helmet, battle fan, and the famous Battle flag bearing phrases from Sun Tsu’s classic of military strategy, The Art of War. Erinji also is the site of a Japanese Garden created by Muso Kokushi, Japan’s leading historic designer of Japanese gardens, who also designed the famous Garden in Kyoto Arashiyama at Tenryuji Temple. At Erinji you can enjoy the beauty of this 700-year-old historic garden with many nuances throughout the seasons.

In his day, Takeda Shingen was considered by many to be the strongest of The Sengoku Samurai Generals. His rivals feud in particular his famous Samurai cavalry. He holds the rank of 10th-dan in Calligraphy from the Zen Nihon Kyoiku Shodo Renmei, it is also a Vice Chairman of that association. In addition, he holds the rank of Tokubetsu Shinan in Nanba Jutsu from the Nanba Jutsu Association. He was the Navigator for the ETHICS (Dougi-hen) documentary on the Aizu Samurai, on the occasion of the 150th year after the Boshin War, documentary that was aired in Japan and on the History Channel, and also produced the calligraphy used in that documentary series. In 2009 he became the first Certified World Class Speaking Coach. Through teaching and various media he shares insights on the best parts of Japanese culture in English and Japanese, both in and outside of Japan. He the author of best selling books on Amazon, including a book on World Class Speaking published by KADOKAWA Books.

Born in Yamanashi. Tea Master (Chajin). Full name Maeshima Koutarou. Certified as a Tea Ceremony Shihan in Omote Senke Style. Resident Master of Taro An Tea House. He began studying Tea Ceremony at the age of 6, and has conducted over 600 Tea Ceremonies. He conducts classes in Tea Ceremony for Parents and Children at the Historic Zen Temple of Erinji in Yamanashi, as well as at Japanese Cultural Events in Japan. He has conducted Tea Ceremony events sponsored by French-Japan Municipal Organizations in Paris and Beaune, as well as at numerous events for Foreign visitors to Japan. He is dedicated to pursuit of the Japanese sense of beauty through the Tea Ceremony.
